The general safety and tolerability of AGGRENOX was demonstrated in the largest stroke prevention trial ever: the Second European Stroke Prevention Study (ESPS 2). And AGGRENOX has been taken safely by hundreds of thousands of patients in the United States and around the world.
The most common side effect is headache (38.2% vs 32.4% with placebo), which usually diminishes over time.
Most people starting with AGGRENOX do not get a headache and for many, the headache is mild. Your body will adjust naturally and the headaches should go away in a matter of days. Headaches associated with AGGRENOX usually go away within a week of starting to take it.
Other side effects include GI bleeding which, was comparable to aspirin (4.1% vs 3.2%).
If you are concerned about headache or other symptoms, don’t stop taking AGGRENOX, but contact your doctor. He or she may be able to help you better deal with these symptoms while your body adjusts to the medicine.
